I’m incapable of drawing most anything- except fabulous stick people. I can’t do graphic design and I love all colors, but sometimes I love black and white and sometimes I love to paint over photos. As you can clearly see, I was cut out to be an amazing graphic designer – but alas, I have no talent when it comes to that skill. This is where Canva comes into play. If you haven’t played with Canva yet (and you’re not a graphic designer, like me), then your posts just aren’t as good as they can be. Canva is the graphic design tool for dummies, like me! All of my graphics looks amazing when I use their templates and pre-made text overlays. I look for all the free photos, but every once in a while, I get carried away and spend a $1 for that must have photo.
I know what you’re thinking – but I can just take photos off of Google! WRONG – most of those photos are copyrighted using those photos for your business use can result in a lawsuit. So, how do you know what you can and cannot use on Google?
When you are searching for a photo on Google, let’s say, birds. Type in “birds” into Google as you would anything else. Then, click on the Images link (second from the left).
Then Click on Search Tools, then you’ll get another drop down menu. Click on Usage Rights, and then Labeled for Reuse with Modification.
And you’ll get the search results of the photos you can use:
So, go ahead – fall in love with your graphics that look like you spent tons of money and time with a designer. Don’t worry – I’ll keep your (graphics) love affair a secret!
